Deputy Matt Miller died in the line of duty the day after Christmas. Attempting to catch up to a speeding motorist, his motorcycle hit a car that turned into his path.
It happened just a mile up the road from our house. The Mr. and I passed the terrible scene not too long after the accident occured. I remember praying for the people involved as we worked our way through the crawl of rubbernecking traffic. Only later did I find out I'd exchanged greetings with the deputy just two days before as my family and I made our way into Christmas Eve services. He served at our church. He served the community. And it more than sucks that he's gone.
I hate death.
My husband rides a motorcyle. So does my brother. I might eventually. Deputy Miller did. Friends ... please drive smarter. With caution. Less selfishly.
And please pray for his family and fellow deputies. May they rejoice in a knowledge that he's opening it up on open roads with Jesus these days ...
Love.
